About Us

A family tradition since 1969.

Rod McKay always knew he wanted to be a farmer, and at the age of 19, he bought the farm where Willowtree Farm is still located today. He started out growing cash crops and milking cows, but in 1979 also added 4 acres of strawberries to the delight of his wife Marlene, who had grown up on a strawberry farm. It wasn’t long before more fruits and vegetables were added and the milking herd was sold to allow for more time to be spent in the fields.

Their sons, Jordan and Alex, came home from university and helped the business grow to what it is today. They started a CSA program and began attending more farmers markets. Their wives, Alyson and Kelty, are also home on the farm, and Alex and Kelty’s son Ian helps out too!

In 2016 they opened the doors of their brand new, beautiful, year-round market store, where they sell 100% Ontario-made products. You can find fresh produce, a butcher shop, preserves, prepared meals, baked goods and more. Have lunch at their cafe, or join their weekly Dinner Club and pick up a hot and healthy dinner on Thursday nights!
