About Us
Before Jack and Florence Lusted purchased it, Hy-Hope Farm was known as the Spencer Farm. The Spencer’s farmed the land for over 100 years. Jack and Florence purchased the land in 1972 and began the work to clean up the farm and the buildings. After a few years they then turned it over to their Daughter and Son-in-law, Carol and Dave.
In 1975, Dave and Carol Bibb started farming the land, growing vegetables as well as hog farming. After their two children, Stewart and Lisa, were born, they thought they needed something else to occupy their time. So on the 1980 Grey Cup weekend, Carol baked and sold their first pies on a small table at the end of their driveway. It was a major success!
Over the past 30, years Hy-Hope Farm has seen many changes from a folding table at the side of the road to a year round farm market. There’s something for every season, from fruits and vegetables in the summer, tobogganing in the winter and our year round freshly baked goods, jams and preserves.
And, don’t forget the 18-hole executive golf course. Another one of Dave’s wacky ideas turned into a fruitful endeavor.
Make sure to pick up a loaf of Dave’s famous bread!
